Month Description
13 March 2020 I had a dentist appointment this morning... It is always a lot of fun for me to go to the dentist.  I never have cavaties and I really like my doctor, Dr. Bryan Morgan. He is cool.  I told him all about my Toothbrush Challenge. He was super interested and said he really likes the idea !  I gave him 2 bamboo toothbrushes to try out. He took a picture of us together and said he will post it on the facebook page of Children's Dentistry of Manatee. That means more kids will hopefully hear about the Toothbrush Challenge and start using bamboo brushes instead of plastic ones !

28 February 2020 I spoke on my school's "Morning News" earlier today to thank all the kids and teachers for taking part in the Toothbrush Challenge at school.  It has been an amazing team effort. We have collected 311 plastic brushes in just 4 weeks !  We are helping the earth and our oceans.  We are making a difference !

26 February 2020 A girl at my school was inpired by what she heard during my presentation in her class. She now also wants to do her part in helpring the Earth!  (Exactly what happened to me when I listened to Mr. Philippe Cousteau !) Look at this beautiful and colorful poster she made to put up in her classroom.

I gave Avaya 10 bamboo brushes to give out to other people.  She is also now telling people to use bamboo brushes instead of plastic.  Great job Avaya !

24 February 2020 Mr. Michael Trimboli visited my school today.  He is  from MSTV.  MSTV is the School District of Manatee County's educational television station.  He brought all his big camera equipment with him.  He filmed my presentation that I gave to the First Graders. He also interviewed me and Mrs. Paul.  I was nervous about the interview.  Mr. Mike asked me a lot of questions, but I answered them as best as I could.

Miss Ashley and Mr. Tim work at The Center. They also listened to me talk.  Miss Ashley made all the arrangements for me to talk there. They are both very cool.

Afterwards we played on their playground. I wish I could have one of those at my house !  Then they showed me their composter. It is a BIG round bin.  The kids at The Center take turns to turn it around and around.  You put all sorts of fruit and veggie scraps and peels in there.  Even unused bread and pasta !  You can also put empty toilet paper rolls and paper towel rolls in there. Then after some time all the stuff in there decomposes and makes compost which is very good for your garden.

13 January 2020 My Toothbrush Challenge started at school today ! I spoke to the 3rd grade students at my school.  I hope I inspired them and that they will take part in this challenge.  My teacher, Miss Paul, was the first to take the challenge and exchange her plastic toothbrush for a bamboo one !  I am very proud of her.  Here are some pictures :

January 2020 Wow ! The bamboo brushes have been streaming in. Look at the list to the right of all the people, shops  and organizations that are helping me.  I am very grateful to all of them.

I am officially starting my Challenge at school on Monday (01/13/2020).  Sooooo excited !

If the help continues, I might even have enough brushes to take my challenge to another school after I am done with my own school ...
December 2019 2)  I am telling family and friends about The Toothbrush Challenge.  I am also writing letters to various people and going to various shops on the Island to explain the challenge to them.  I am asking them to help me buy enough bamboo toothbrushes so that I have one to give to every kid. Hopefully I will have enough bamboo brushes to start this challenge at my school within the next month or two !

1)  I explained my idea to my teacher, and our principal gave me permission to do this challenge at school.  Thank you !
November 2019 My parents created this website for me to help me advertise my challenge.  Thank you Mommy and Daddy !

I got inspired by Philippe Cousteau during one of his presentations on Anna Maria Island, to do my part to help protect the environment.

.

A big THANKS to these people and organizations ...
